Astronomy & Astrophysics

The ANU maintains a world class observatory and is actively involved at the forefront of astronomy, looking at questions such as: "Is the expansion of the universe accelerating, and if so why?"; "What is the nature of galaxies and how do they form?"; and "What is dark matter?" Our astronomers use most of the world's major telescopes and have a leading role in many of the studies carried out with the Hubble Space Telescope.
